WindSim 10 includes new features, added functionality, and valuable extensions requested by our users including integration to  Openwind WRB file: The project design grid format can contain all the same data as a WRG for multiple heights. It can also contain: roughness; inflow angles; turbulence intensity variation across the site; wind shear exponent and so on. This file can be easily loaded into the Openwind software.

New Industry Alliances

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has taken the lead role in a R&D project called “NowWind”. WindSim demonstrates that meso-micro coupling between a high-resolution meso model (2.5 km) and WindSim outperform the ANN approach. The results will be published at WindEurope 25 – 28 September 2018 | Hamburg.

WindSim Remote Sensing Correction techniques Because flow curvature bias is one of the leading concerns in using remote sensors to measure wind in complex terrain, Vaisala partnered with WindSim to develop a method that mitigates the effects of complex flow on wind measurements collected by remote sensing units.  Vaisala's latest study is entitled "Validation of Triton Wind Profiler Measurements in Complex Terrain, Using WindSim CFD-Based Flow Curvature Correction."
