History
WindSim pioneered the application of CFD technology to optimize wind farm performance.
WindSim's singular focus on wind energy has enabled us to help the industry's worldwide leaders meet the challenges of wind farm design and wind resource assessment for more than ten years—earning us unrivaled domain expertise. WindSim is recognized worldwide as the leading provider—and the thought leader—in the application of CFD technology and other advanced methods in the wind energy industry.
In 1998, WindSim AS established the Norwegian Wind Atlas in cooperation with the Norwegian Meteorological Institute. Simulating the local wind field conditions along the complex Norwegian coastline was a challenging task. The WindSim methodology was developed during this project to help meet those demands.
The first commercially available version of WindSim software was launched in 2003—after six years of in-house use, on-going development, and rigorous testing. Since then, there has been strong, steady growth in its adoption. WindSim is used by worldwide wind energy industry leaders including Vestas, GE Energy, Gamesa, Enercon, Senvion, Suzlon, Siemens, Nordex, and many more.
