Wind energy
- Norwegian Wind Atlas
The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate has released the Norwegian Wind Atlas. The wind resources along the 2700 km long Norwegian coastline have been simulated with WindSim. Areas with favourable wind conditions have been localised, in total an area of more than 7000 square kilometres have been identified with an average wind speed above 8 m/s. The project has been undertaken by VECTOR AS, in cooperation with the Norwegian meteorological institute. See the report: http://windsim.com/wind_energy/wind_atlas/index.html
- EWEC 2001
WindSim version 3.0.0 will be presented at the European Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition in Copenhagen, 2 - 6 July. We are looking forward to meet you in Copenhagen, at stand D4. Later this autumn WindSim will also be presented at Windtech Husum, 18 - 22 September. Download the new WindSim prospect: http://windsim.com/documentation/prospect_0106.pdf
Environmental and contingency
Kjelforeningen Norsk Energi has used WindSim in the simulations of accidental releases from SO2 tank at Norske Skog Saugbrugs.
Ski jumps with wind sails
The international Ski Federation launches project in co-operation with Norges Skiforbund. The aim of the project is to create equal and safe conditions for ski jumpers, also under windy conditions. A tailor made WindSim module for ski jumps with wind sails will be developed, see article in Aftenposten 10.03.01 (Norwegian): http://windsim.com/services/project_fis/index.html
